In this article I would like to share my experience using fiverr.com. It is an online marketplace where people post what 'jobs' they're willing to do for you for just $5 dollars.
Here are a few examples of some of the 'gigs' listed on Fiverr.com:
"I will tweet your product or link to my 35000 active twitter followers for $5"
"I will add 1000 real followers to your twitter account for $5"
"I will invite 12,000 of my loyal friends to join your facebook fanpage and send you proof for $5"
I both bought and sold gigs on fiverr. The gigs that I sold were about travel: I provided useful information about the places I know well.
I sold a few, not many, but while I was in touch with one of the buyers, I unexpectedly ended up selling another service to him. In my case, the buyer wanted to ask me a few questions on Skype and I agreed. He turned to be a well read and educated person who is in love with travel. We had a 20 minute conversation, and I shared everything I knew about the city he was planning to go. Finally he bought another service from me, so it was worth doing.
If you are prepared to do a little extra, you may start up a new business relationship thanks to the contacts you make on fivver. Such contacts may open good opportunities for joint ventures. They may also give you a good indication of what interests people and what gigs you should sell.
I bought a few gigs to add likes to my FB pages. I had different results. In one case I only saw 3 new people who liked my page, but there was a good one when I had 400 likes in two days. After some time you will see people start un liking the page, if it is not in the field of their interests, but the majority of them stay if the updates and interaction on the page are good.
When I started exploring fivver for buying adverts, I only paid attention to the number of orders the sellers completed and the feedback the buyers left. Now after I collect the gigs that I like, judging by the number of sales and the feedback, I contact a seller with a few questions. For example, if your target audience speaks only German, it doesn't make sense to send the advert to Arab speaking community. Or if you are selling a product in the weight loss niche, it will not create a buzz among those people on Facebook or twitter who are keen on sport.
I interact with sellers before buying, because I want to ensure that I am going to get the most out of my order, which means the more accurate criteria we choose, the better the response of the advert will be.
I found out that 90% of the sellers reply very quickly and are happy to give you the information you are asking for, and some of them even send you a link to their twitter account.
Another useful tip for you if you are planning to buy a gig is this. Some sellers send you a prof that the job is done, they send you a screen shot, so you may use this as a criteria when you are choosing what gig to buy.
3 more tips on how you can use fivver in your business:
- Make sure you buy gigs from sellers that have lots of great feedback!
- When selling gigs, only sell gigs that are easy to fulfil on and that take you just a few seconds or a minute to do - or, even better, that only take your outsourcers a minute to do.
- If you're selling gigs, remember, the smartest thing you can do is leverage the selling power of fiverr by offering your buyers a higher-priced offer. For example, "Thank you for purchasing my $5 gig and I hope you are pleased with the 200 fans I delivered for your fan page. Would you like to purchase 10,000 new fans for $500?"
By the way, Fiverr.com is not the only website that offers such 'gigs'.
